Message :Leave at 7AM or whenever everybody shows up.

This usually works fine for a smaller group, but imagine waiting for 20+ or so cars with about 30+ ppl and telling the whole group - oh we have to wait for so and so to show up because we think he is coming. Oh and by the way, we don't really know because he never confirmed or called.

I am not saying that we are going to have 20+ cars for this one, but we have had events where we have had more than that attend. Do you think the group as a whole should be penalized for the few laggards. Or maybe you can get into the whole discussion that maybe we should wait xx.x minutes for them to arrive. Why waste all that energy - just keep it simple and leave per a schedule.

:And get there after rush hour. Big deal ... we show up when we show up. And if all else fails ... plan on leaving a whole day earlier if you really want to do the dinner.

The whole idea is to get there to attend the dinner. I don't think the majority of ppl are going to want to just show up whenever - meaning that they may miss something at the dinner.

Oh in years past, we would discuss leaving the night or day earlier, but then they are those that are working or are low on funds and don't want to pay for another night at a hotel. Again, you cannot please everyone.

:Ugh ... never mind ....
:Point of the matter is, I've talked to several Club Z members (some ex-members), and .... you fill in the blank.

:We have CB radios, cells, and I even let others borrow my extra on our drives. And you know the nature of humans ... they like to compare.

Yep I know the nature of human beings. We all like to compare and complain, myself included. We also like to have events, but very few of us are willing to volunteer to put together one or even help out with one, yet we have no problem criticizing the ppl putting one together.

Unfortunately, you have to develop a thick skin to put up with everything associated with putting an event together and learn that you cannot please everyone. When that skin starts thinning out, it is time to move aside and let the next brave volunteers to carry the banner.

With that I can say my now thin skin has been pricked and this will be the last event that I help out with.

It has been fun and now can I see the hands of those volunteering to take my place.
